Player Portal: Share as Much World as You Want
Give your table a home: a player dashboard, a browsable codex of what they have discovered, shared wikis, and not one secret more than you chose to reveal.
The portal is what your players get when they follow your invite link: a read-only window onto your world, sized by you. This page covers both sides: how you control it as the GM, and what your players experience.
For Gamemasters
Choose what players can browse
The portal runs on one of three presets, set under Settings → Player Portal:
- Wiki only (the default): players see shared wiki pages and nothing else. Right for campaigns mid-migration, or tables that only want handouts.
- Revealed world: the portal fills in as you play. When your session log mentions an NPC, location, or item, it appears in your players' codex. A sub-toggle decides whether Common Knowledge entries in far-off places show before the party gets there (off by default: the world reveals itself through play).
- Open world: everything that is not GM Secret is browsable from day one. Right for published-setting campaigns where the world is not the mystery.
Details worth knowing under Revealed world: sessions reveal the things they touched (NPCs, locations, quests, items, creatures, player characters, lore, deities). Factions, world rules, mechanics, and vehicles never auto-reveal; mark those Player Knowledge when you want them visible.
The overrides
- Any record has a Hidden from the portal toggle in its edit form. On means never shown, whatever the preset, whatever its tier. For the one NPC you are saving even in an Open world.
- Players can edit the campaign wiki (off by default, Settings → Player Portal) upgrades your table from readers to co-authors of the campaign wiki. The Party and Player wiki spaces are always writable regardless; see the wiki's three spaces.
Invites and members
Create invite links under Settings → Player Portal → Invites: single-use or multi-use, with optional expiration. Manage who is in the campaign under Settings → Members, where removing a player also cuts their portal access on the spot.
Before you share anything, use View as Player to see the portal with your own eyes. It is the single best secret-leak check you have.
For players
Joining
Your GM sends a link. Follow it, sign in with an existing Grimoire account or create one (email and password, Google, or Discord), and the campaign attaches to your account. One account works everywhere: you can play in several campaigns and run your own worlds with the same login.
Your portal home
The portal opens on a dashboard built for catching up before game night: the latest recap your GM shared, open quests, an Explore grid of the world's categories, and your wikis:
- The campaign wiki: the world reference your GM writes
- The party wiki: shared notes everyone at the table can edit
- My wiki: your own journal, visible to you and your GM only
The codex
Each place, person, and thing you have discovered gets a codex entry, with its connections and the wiki pages that mention it. If something seems missing, it usually means your character has not discovered it yet. Search everything you can see with the palette (Ctrl K); the portal works well on a phone at the table.
Common questions
Why can I not see something the GM mentioned? The world reveals as your character learns it. Ask in character.
Can I edit the wiki? The party wiki and your own wiki, always. The campaign wiki, only if your GM has turned that on.
I forgot my password. Use the reset link on the sign-in page; it emails you. Your GM cannot see or set your password.
Can one account be in several campaigns? Yes, and it can also run its own. Every account is a full Grimoire account; the campaign switcher moves between them.
